Growing up in a small-town in Texas, my only exposure and knowledge of the oceans and sharks was Jacques-Yves Cousteau and the movie “Jaws”. One fascinated me and the other terrified me. Loving the oceans, but phobically afraid of the sharks that inhabited them, I spent my entire childhood, and most of my adult life, staying as far away from the sea as possible. After raising my family, I took my trip out of the country to the Turks and Caicos Islands. I was mesmerized by the beauty of the turquoise water, and it had an immediate and profound effect on me; calling to me in a way I cannot explain in words…
Determined to overcome my embedded fear of sharks; I tried scuba diving, and in that moment my whole life changed. I quickly learned that the world that lies beneath the surface is nothing less than magical, tranquil, and hypnotic. When I saw my first shark, I instantly realized they are not the monsters portrayed in the media, but instead a beautiful, graceful, and necessary species, not only for the survival of the oceans, but for mankind itself. I was determined from that moment on to be a leader in the fight to protect sharks and the oceans they inhabit.
After my initial experience, I worked hard for the next 4 years and became a scuba instructor and started using my platform to educate people on the truth about the necessity of protecting the health of the oceans, reefs, and all the creatures who contribute to the ecosystem.
I will continue to be a warrior in this fight to protect our planet because I have experienced first-hand the emotional and mental shift that occurs when someone's fear morphs into interest and curiosity. You will fight to protect something that interests you, and I want my grandchildren to know the beautiful oceans the way I does; a place brimming with incredible life, a place I am privileged enough to now call home.
I use my videography skills to capture and showcase the aquatic world because the visual link is crucial to making an emotional connection…
This is an interactive site. I encourage questions and feedback. My blogs, videos, and photos are filled with my passion. I consider every creature I encounter a “Sea Pearl” - Beautiful treasures cultivated by nature and more precious than Silver or Gold.
Come along - enjoy the adventures and become an ocean warrior!
To share my passion for the oceans and the creatures who call them home through personal photos, videos, and blogs of my adventures. Fear creates an apathetic attitude towards what causes that fear. By bringing the mysterious and villainized creatures up close and personal, the myths will hopefully be dispelled and fear will change to interest, generating a desire to protect and preserve our natural planet – starting with our oceans and sharks.
