A gorgeous bull sea lion telling me to stay back and away from his family. He takes a breath at the surface and then arcs back at me and blows the bubbles in my lens as a warning, to which I respected his warning and left him in peace. It was a beautiful encounter.
This is a raft of sea lions that are thermoregulating, meaning they lay on the surface with their fins in the air absorbing heat from the sun to maintain their body temperatures.

Winner of the "Father of the Year Award" goes to the Jawfish. In this instance, it's a Yellowhead Jawfish (Opistognathus aurifrons). They incubate their clutch of babies in their mouths (this is known as mouth brooding) for 5-7 days, aerating them every couple of minutes to remove waste and/or fouled eggs to keep his clutch healthy. This is a churning motion that happens in the blink of an eye. He spits the clutch out, rotates it, and sucks it back in. In this video, you can actually see debris (a grain of sand) falling from his mouth.
A beautiful little Common Octopus(Octopus Vulgaris) out shuffling along the reef a couple weeks ago.The white flashing is a warning to back off.
Such intelligent creatures who should never be in a tank or on a plate!
